May is officially here and so is another month packed full of fun. Let's get into the event line-up! Riftbound - Unleashed Pre-Rift When: May 2nd at Noon & 5pm | Entry: $35 | Cap: 48 per event | Format: Sealed, 3 Rounds, Each 50-Minute Each participant will receive 1x Pre-Rift Player Kit to build a deck and face opponents. Each kit includes: 1 Mini-preconstructed deck (15 cards including Champion Legend and Champion Unit) 5 Unleashed Booster Packs 1 Pre-Rift Promo Card Please be sure to preregister on our website for your preferred time slot to reserved your spot! MtG - Secrets of Strixhaven Commander Party When: May 3rd at 3pm | Entry: $7 | Format: Casual Commander, Pods of 3-4 Play a mini game based on the newest set, Secrets of Strixhaven, that gives you bonuses towards your game of Commander. Based on the college players select, they will become Prepared, allowing them to cast a specific spell from their college AND cast a copy of it! Once a player has completed all classes, they will be able to complete their thesis (earn an Emblem). Each participant will receive 1 retro frame foil Access Tunnel promo and $5 in store credit. MtG - Magic Academy: Learn to Play / Deckbuilding When: May 3rd at 3pm | Entry: Free | Format: Learn to Play /Workshop Do you want to learn how to play Magic but aren't sure where to start? Are you an older player looking to experience newer cards? Or are you struggling to build a deck with synergy? Magic Academy is the perfect place to start. A Game Haven team member will help guide you on the road to becoming a top tier magic player and answer any questions you may have. Each participant MUST sign into the MtG Companion App. If you do not have the app, you MUST create an account in order to receive a Learn-To-Play deck. Decks will be randomly distributed. Each participant will receive: 1 Secrets of Strixhaven Learn-To-Play deck (40 cards). Each deck contains 1 random reward* that can be redeemed by turning in the redemption card to one of our team members. *Rewards will be physical (SoS Bumper Sticker) or digital (for Mtg Arena). Lorcana - Wilds Unknown Release Event When: May 8th at 7pm | Entry: $35 | Format: Sealed, 3 Rounds, Each 50 minutes, Best of 3 Join us for the first Lorcana Prerelease that has Prerelease Boxes! We're featuring a returning Special Guest, Jabari Weathers, a local artist based in Baltimore! Jabari has created art featured on cards from Secret Lair: Pride Across the Multiverse, Lorwyn Eclipsed, and Secrets of Strixhaven! Pokémon - League Challenge When: May 17th at 4:30pm (After Prerelease) | Entry: $10 for Masters/Seniors, $5 for Juniors | Cap: 36 Players | Format: Standard, Best of 1, Swiss Rounds, Cut to Top 4/8 Join our monthly Pokémon League Challenge! Prizes awarded to TOP 4 or TOP 8 players will be based on the number of attendants. Participants will also receive Championship Points. Save your spot by preregistering here. MtG - Open the Archive Drafts When: May 22nd - June 12th 7pm | Entry: $35 | Format: Draft, 3 Swiss Rounds, Each 50 minutes On Wednesdays and Fridays, starting May 22nd, players will draft SoS with a small twist: With each player's first pick from each pack, they also take the Mystical Archive card from that pack. Each participant will also receive an emblem to use in their matches that states: Mana of any type can be used to cast Mystical Archive cards. Along with regular prize support, Players that go 2-1 or better will also receive 1 random coin that represents 1 or the 5 Strixhaven Colleges (while supplies last). Stop on in to participate in this new draft experience. MtG - DMV Legacy BCQ When: May 23rd at Noon | Entry: $40 | Cap: 40 | Format: Legacy, Number of rounds based on attendance, Each 50 minutes, Cut to Top 8 Playtest Policy: 15 playtest cards maximum. Playtest cards are not Proxies. Proxy cards can be confused for real MtG cards. Here is an example of Playtest cards. If you need any made, we can provide Playtest cards. Penalty Policy: If players have too many playtest cards (more than 15) or a Deck Error, they will receive a warning. The player is expected to produce an official copy of the card or purchase the card from the shop (Game Haven) if applicable. Holiday Hours Reminder Due to the Holiday season, our hours will change ever so slightly. We will be closing early at 9pm on Christmas Eve, December 24th, and will be closed for all of Christmas Day, December 25th. Gamer Gift Lists The season of gift giving is upon us! Gamers tend to have a variety of interests that family and friends want to nurture, but are unsure of where to start. Have they bought the item for themselves? Did someone else already purchase it? What do you even pick up for a gamer? Have no fear—Game Haven is here to help! We have created a “Gift List” to make holiday shopping easier! Stop by, ask for a Gift List and fill it out with a list of things you hope to receive for the holiday season. Game Haven will keep lists on file and keep track of what has been purchased. All your friends and family have to do is stop at the counter and ask for your list by first and last name—we’ll take care of the rest! Remember, these are gifts for you so once your list is turned in, you can’t check to see what was purchased. You’ll find out when you open your gifts! Christmas Eve Chaos Draft When: December 24th at 4pm | Entry: $15 | Format: 4 Pack Chaos Draft, 3 Rounds, 50-Minutes Each To celebrate the holiday season, we’re offering a special Christmas Eve Chaos Draft.
