July - Celebrate Summer!
Get ready for an action-packed month filled with incredible events and exciting gaming experiences at The Game Haven. We've got a fantastic lineup of events planned just for you throughout July. So, mark your calendars and let's dive into all the thrilling details! July 4th: Please note that we will be closing early at 9pm or when events end due to the holiday. Be sure to plan your gaming adventures accordingly to celebrate! Modern Monday @ 7pm: Join us every Monday in July for Modern Monday to gain a chance to win exclusive 30th anniversary foil promos. Each week, one lucky participant will be randomly selected to receive either a 30th anniversary promo foil Glen Elendra Archmage or Tarmogoyf (Japanese). Check out the calendar to see which promo is up for grabs each Monday. Entry is $10 with regular prize support and promo packs in addition! Three lucky participants will be randomly selected to receive a non-foil promo pack, while 3-0 players will earn a foil promo pack. The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Celebration Event on July 9th @ 2pm: Experience the magic of Middle-earth with a day of open play and celebration. Participants will have the opportunity to create a souvenir photo that will become a usable 1/1 Human token! Plus, don't miss out on special MTG Arena LTR-themed preconstructed Decks, Bring-A-Friend promos, and limited edition collectible LTR Dice! Entry to this event is absolutely free! Please remember to sign in to the Companion App to receive your prizes. Weekly Wednesday Draft @7pm: Join us for exhilarating drafts every Wednesday. Each night we'll be handing out promo packs We have an exciting lineup of sets for you to enjoy. July 5th: The Brothers' War - Entry is $20 with regular prize support. July 12th:Chaos Draft - Entry is $10 + the price of packs with regular prize support. Please note that Commander and Un-Sets are excluded. July 19th: The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Midddle-earth - Entry is $25 with Standard draft packs as prize support. July 26th: Game Haven's Community Cube - Entry is $10, and the cube is limited to 8 people. Along with regular prize support, players have the opportunity to change cards in the cube. 3-0 players get to change 2 cards, 2-1 and 2-0 players get to change 1. All cards added must be under $100. July 26th: Dominaria United - For those not wanting to participate in Cube, we have Dominaria United on the side! Entry is $20 with regular prize support. Friday Night Magic: Draft @ 7pm - Get your Friday Night gaming fix with our thrilling drafts throughout July. Here's what we have in store: July 7th: Game Haven's Community Cube - Entry is $10, and the cube is limited to 8 people. Along with regular prize support, players have the opportunity to change cards in the cube.Same card change ruls apply as mentioned above. July 7th: Dominaria United - For those not wanting to participate in Cube, we have Dominaria United on the side! Entry is $20 with regular prize support. DreamHack 2-Slot RCQ on July 16th @ Noon - Calling all aspiring champions! Join us for the fourth round of DreamHack Regional Championship Qualifiers. Entry is $50, and the format is Sealed with TOP 8 Draft, featuring The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth. The top 2 Players will move on to Regionals. The first 58 entrants will receive a non foil promo Unholy Heat, Top 8 will get a non foil promo Eldritch Evolution and the Top 2 players will get a foil promo Eldritch Evolution, 2 non foil copies of Eldritch Evolution 3 copies of Unholy Heart! Tickets for preregistration can be found here. The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth Commander Party on July 23rd @ 2pm Participate in a fun mini-game that offers bonuses during your Commander gameplay. Entry is $7 with pods of 3-4 players. Each participant will receive a promo retro frame Lifecrafter's Beastiary and $5 in store credit. Commander Masters Preview on July 28th @ 7pm, July 29th & 30th @ Noon Stay tuned for more information about our upcoming Commander Masters Preview Event. Details, including pricing, are still to be determined. Keep an eye out for our next blog post with exciting details. Pokémon League Challenge on July 30th @ 1pm - Join us for our monthly League Challenge Entry is $10 for Masters & Seniors, $5 for Juniors (born 2011 or later). This tournament will take place in stead of Standard. Decklists are required so please arrive early to fill one out or bring your own. Player IDs are required, if you do not have one, we can provide one. Decklist sheets can be found here. Check our website later this month for tickets to preregister. PIONEER RCQ Decklists
On May 28th we hosted our 2-Slot Pioneer RCQ for Round 4. Our TOP 2 players, Joel Sadowsky and Calin Rabago, will receive an invite to to the U.S. Regional Championship at DreamHack Atlanta 2023 (December 15-17)! Check out TOP 8 Decklists here. Our next RCQ for Round 4 will be on July 16th @Noon! Entry: $50 Start Time: Noon (Registration begins at 11 am) Format: Sealed - The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth w/ TOP 8 Draft Event Cap: 60 Prize: The first 58 entrants will receive an Unholy Heat promo, TOP 8 will get a non foil promo of Eldritch Evolution and the TOP 2 players will get a FOIL copy of Eldritch Evolution, 2 non foil copies of Eldritch Evolution 3 copies of Unholy Heart! May The 4th Be With You
Are you ready for some serious fun this May? We're bringing you a whole host of events you won't want to miss out on! First up we have a Dungeons & Dragons Beginner's Campaign on May 6th at 2pm. Our friend Jay is offering her time as DM for this experience, and each player gets a free set of dice. This event is free to attend, so gather up your friends and join the adventure! All ages are welcome, but we do prioritize children, so make sure to call and reserve a spots. If spots are filled, don't worry, you can reserve a spot for the next session on June 3rd at 2pm. Next, we have a 2HG Commander Tournament on May 7th at 2pm. This event is perfect for competitive players who love to team up and battle it out. Entry fee is $10 per person, and the format is 2HG commander with unified construction, best of 1, with teams starting with 60 life. The first place teams get 2 30th Anniversary promo foil Kor Haven and 2 (two) Vindicate (Italian), while the second place team gets 1 30th Anniversary promo foil Kor Haven and 1 Vindicate (Italian). Our Store Championship on May 20th at noon is another great event for competitive players. Entry fee is $25, and the format is Standard with cut to TOP 8 and numder of rounds is dependent on the number of attendants. The first 60 entrants get a non-foil promo Strangle, while the TOP 8 get a foil promo Ather Channeler. Winner will receive a full art foil promo Thalia and the Gitrog Monster, as well as 3 more copies of Strangle and bragging rights as out Store Champion! Decklists are REQUIRED, so please come early to fill one out or come prepared with one already filled. Tickets are available here for preregistration. On May 21rst at noon, we're hosting our first DreamHack RCQ (2-Slot) for Round 4! The entry fee is $25, the format is Pioneer with cut to TOP 8, and number of rounds is dependent on number of attendants. The first 58 entrants get a non foil promo Unholy Heat, while TOP 8 receive a non foil promo Eldritch Evolution. The TOP 2 players will receive a foil promo Eldritch Evolution, 3 more Unholy Heat, 2 more non foil Eldritch Evolution, and an invitation to Regionals! Tickets are available here for preregistration. Our friends from Chatime will be making an appearance an appearance on this day so keep an eye out for their truck! Stay tuned for information on our second RCQ for this season. If you're looking for a more casual event, come to our March of the Machine Commander Party on May 28th at 2pm. The entry fee is $7, and you can bring your own commander decks to play in a fun new mini-game! Participants receive $5 in store credit as well as 3 Phyrexian foil promos such as Psychosis Crawler, Norn's Annex, and Beast Within! For all Pokemon lovers out there, we have a prerelease for the newest set, Paldea Evolved on May 28th @Noon! For $35, each participant will receive a Paldea Evolved Build & Battle kit. Any player that wins all 3 rounds will receive 6 Paldea Evolved Booster Packs, players that win 2 will get 4, and everyone else gets 2! Immediately following that, we have our Pokemon League Challenge on May 28th around 3:30pm. The entry fee is $10 for Masters and Seniors and $5 for Juniors (those born 2011 or later). Decklists and player IDs are required. The event cap is 66, and the format is Standard with swiss rounds, based on number of attendants. Prizes are given to TOP 8, also based on number of attendants. Tickets are avaiable here for preregistration. Please only buy Juniors if you are purchasing for a minor. We also have our monthly meeting for the Ladies Magic Lounge on May 31st! From 7pm to 10pm, you can enjoy a night of fun and make new friends. This event is free to attend! Our Assistant Manager, Sham, will be running the event, so be sure to bring your MtG decks (or borrow one of ours). Each participant will receive 1 MtG promo. There are only 7 spots available so please call to reserve your spot. This weekend, May 6th and 7th, we're thrilled to annoucne that we'll be participating in the Baltimore PokeCon! We're taking our entire Pokemon inventory with us to the convention so that everyone attending can see what we have in stock. In case you're looking to purchase some Pokemon singles, please head on over to our TCGplayer Pro page and place your order. You can collect your order at the convention if you're planning to attend, or it will be ready for pickup at our store on Monday the 8th. Don't forget to swing by our booth and say hello if you're attending the convention! We've got some fantastic events planned, and we'd love to have you participate. For more details, check out their website. Also, get ready trainers, we have some exciting news for all our Pokemon enthusiasts! Our first-ever Pokemon League Cup is scheduled for June 11th and we can't wait for you to join us! This tournament will start promptly at 11am, but we will open our doors at 10am to give everyone ample time to settle in. Entry fees are $35 for Masters & Seniors, and $20 for Juniors (those born 2011 or later). The format is Standard with cut to TOP 4 or TOP 8 (depending on attendance). Prizes for TOP 4/8 are also dependant on number of attendants. Chefck back later for tickets. We'd also like yo inform you all that on May 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th, our store will be opening later than usual at 5pm and closing at 11pm. This decision was made to give our staff some much needed rest and downtime. We take pride in providing excellent service and believe taking a short break will help us to deliver quality service. April Updates
April is here as well as a new event schedule Get ready for a month packed with excitement! The very fabric of the Multiverse fundamentally changes in this epic climactic battle, March of the Machine. Fight against the Phyrexians in this event! Entry is $35 per person. Check out the dates: April 14th @7pm April 15th @Noon & 5pm April 16th 2HG @Noon April 16th @5pm If you can't make it during the weekend, don't worry, we offer take home prerelease kits that come with 2 set booster packs! Tickets are available online for preorder. For each prerelease kit preordered, you will receive one 30th Anniversary promo foil Eternal Witness (while supplies last). We also have a special Prerelease Draft scheduled on April 19th @7pm. Entry fee is $20 and we'll have set booster packs as prize support! With the official release of March of the Machine comes the Launch Party! Celebrate the release with a draft on April 21st @7pm! Each participant will receive a 30th Anniversary promo foil Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind (while supplies last). Entry is $20 with draft boosters as prize support. We also have a crowd favorite, the Draft-A-Thon on April 23rd! We're bringing you all day (starting @Noon) drafting with a cheaper entry fee and top 2 players of each draft will get free entry into the next one. Each draft fires as soon as 8 people are available. Entry is $15 per draft. If you're one of the top players and can't enter the next draft,we'll give you $15 in store credit. Don't forget to Preorder your March of the Machine products. If you preorder, you'll receive 10% off your oproducts, and if you pay by the end of this weekend, you'll receive 15% off instead! March of the Machine is available online for preorder. This month we're also hosting our first Pokémon League Challenge! On April 30th @1pm, bring your standard decks to enter in this competitive event. Entry fee is $5 for Juniors (players born in 2011 or later) $10 for Masters & Seniors (players born in 2011 or earlier). Decklists are required so please arrive early to fill one out or bring your own. Player IDs are also required, if you do not have one, we can provide one. Prizes include booster pack prizes to TOP 8 players that will be based on the number of attendants. You'll also receive Championship Points.
